“the fair”

i think the first photography book i ever bought myself was anthony giocelea. it was very strange. there were a lot of photoshopped naked young boys. but i love this fairy-tale series from ‘96. he did 26 self-portraits of 26 fairy-tale characters, one for each letter of the alphabet. (although i think he’s using the term ‘fairy-tale a little loosely for some of them.) a few of my favorites:

cinderella

the frog prince

the old lady who swallowed a fly

pinocchio

the ugly duckling

william tell
linki found on kanye west’s blog that i like.

ignacio lozana

guido argentini

toby burrows
linkfor vogue. by annie leibovitz. starring lily cole, some dude i don’t know, and lady gaga. i should have posted this a few weeks ago for the staged narrative project.
not my favorite work of hers, but still pretty neat. they use costumes/props/ideas/actors from the met’s production of hansel and gretel.
